Athearn Model Trains

After creating an elaborate circle style layout for his toy train in 1938, Irv Athearn placed an ad in the newspaper selling his layout to the highest bidder. After receiving a great response, Irv decided that he would spend the rest of his life producing and selling model railroads.

His office was based in his mothers house until Irv became a full time retailer in 1948 when he purchased a separate facility and produced the first ever HO scale models.

After producing and selling model railroads for over 50 years, Irv Athearn passed away in 1991. Soon after the business was taken over by new owners. Today, the new owners continue to produce high quality products while maintaining the best prices.
