Brass Model Trains

These exquisitely-crafted models are the prize of serious collectors. These days, most are imports but pay homage to famous and workaday American trains in great variety. Brass trains come in 0, HO, N, S, and Large Scale. Polished brass trains produce a gleaming flash on the track, although purists may point out that real trains were never all-brass. Brass trains can also be found with enameled, accurate detail in correct road and model colors. The only visible brass is that correct to the original train.

Caution to brass train owners - just like old-time rail-workers, you now have polishing duty. No engineer would drive a brass-trimmed engine that didn't shine like the sun! Model brass tarnishes just like big-engine brass.

And a sad note: aside from the work of a few small independent builders and repair-craftsmen, American brass engine builders are gone. Pecos River Brass just posted a goodbye online. Imports from Japan, Korea, and Europe abound.
